A SONG OF THE STAIRWAY

I was overjoyed when they said, “Let’s go up to the house of the Lord.” And now at last we stand here, inside the very gates of Jerusalem! O Jerusalem, you were built as a city of praise, where God and man mingle together. This is where all the tribes of Yahweh are required to come and worship him. This is where the thrones of kings have been established to rule in righteousness; even King David ruled from here. Pray and seek for Jerusalem’s peace, for all who love her will prosper! O Jerusalem, may there be peace for those who dwell inside your walls and prosperity in your every palace. I intercede for the sake of my family and friends who dwell there, that they may all live in peace. For the sake of your house, Yahweh our God, I will seek the welfare and prosperity of Jerusalem. Psalm 122:1-9

When reading Psalm 122 it makes me think about when you pray whats really taking place. Standing in the presence of the Father, safe, interceding for others, calling forth the promises He has made to you, setting your angels into flight. A place where you can praise Him, worship Him, and be filled with His joy. King David had come into this very place when you go to the Heavenly Father in prayer.

Im not so much referring to our physical location as I am our spiritual. Philippians 4:6 tells us...

Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life,

Did you catch the word before? Offering your faith-filled requests before God. Standing before someone means you are in their presence. I’ve had many encounters with the Lord each one so different and so amazing but, there is one in particular that has to do with worship and prayer and where exactly we go.

A few months ago in Sunday church service I was worshiping and praying, standing with my arms raised, hands open, and eyes closed. Third song into praise and worship something miraculous took place. I was standing both feet on the ground yet, my spirit was not!

I actually felt my spirit rise up out of my body and it made me feel as though I was 10ft off the ground. It was like I was being pulled up. Hands still raised, eyes still closed there I was standing right in front of Him (Jesus). He was just standing there hands folded, radiating light, the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever seen.

Even though I could not see details of His face, I sensed Him smiling. I was crying tears of joy because I could feel His love and joy towards me. Its like He was listening to me glorify Him yet, He was listening to the prayers of my heart at the same time.

He stood there and my spirit was elevated for two songs and then He slowly backed away until I could no longer see Him and my spirit re-entered my body.

The only way I can think to put into words the feeling this gave me was immense joy, unlike anything we feel here in the flesh. We will not always have encounters like this but, I do believe this is exactly whats taking place every time we pray.

Our spirit is lifted to God and He stands there just listening to us the same way we imagine our earthly parents do in the natural. When you pray you get His undivided attention. He is listening to every detail of every word you say. He is looking at you in awe. He is thankful for your praises. He loves listening to you sing to Him. With every request you make He is sending angels to work on your behalf. He loves everything about you. You are His masterpiece. He quiets every noise just to hear you speak.

I encourage you to take time today and everyday to pray and seek Him. Go before your Heavenly Father in prayer and worship. Tell Him all the desires of your heart. Intercede for your family and friends that they all live in peace. Pray for all who live for God’s kingdom. Pray for the welfare and prosperity for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Just be in His presence.
